Introducing the WEC Project

The construction industry across Europe faces a critical labour shortage, with demand for skilled workers reaching record highs—yet women remain vastly underrepresented in the sector. The Women Empowered in Construction (WEC) project is here to change that.

WEC is an Erasmus+ initiative focused on empowering women in the construction industry across the Western Balkans and the EU. By developing innovative VET programs, the project tackles gender disparities, supports inclusive training, and contributes to a more diverse and sustainable construction workforce.

Through research, curriculum development, digital tools, and targeted training, WEC offers:

  • Research and mapping of labour market and gender gaps in 7 countries
  • 4 VET curriculum modules tailored to women’s needs
  • A digital platform featuring 40 articles, 4 online courses, and 16 inspiring stories
  • A practical training toolkit and 8 workshops engaging 160 VET and construction professionals

WEC is not just building skills—it’s building inclusion, opportunity, and a stronger future for the construction industry.
